This past weekend, I got to take a MUCH NEEDED mini vacation out into the woods of Lanesville, Indiana. We were very blessed to be able to spend the day at Steve’s Fun Farm, a great day trip from Louisville, Ky.
It did me so much good to get out and have some fun with the kiddo and friends, and just being in nature really helped recharge my batteries. It was my frist time paintballing, and I can’t wait to go back!!
We had so much fun and got so many great moments on camera, it was really hard to edit it down, but go me! I got two hours of footage down to 16 minutes. Even more exciting: I got a great song from Lotus Blake to overlay the video and it really was perfect! It’s got me super excited about this Monday at the Gypsie Courtyard because Lotus Blake is the featured music act. We’ve got some other exciting stuff going on this Monday, too.
Steve is such an amazing guy! Go stop in and tell him Divinity Rose sent you. They’ve got super reasonable prices on activities and camping!
Check it out – (if you pay attention, you’ll catch my birth name)
We’re going to go camping up at Steve’s Fun Farm again in a week or so. I’d like to have a big camp out with great music around the fire….. Who wants to go? It’s only about 20 minutes outside of Louisville. Let me know if you’d like to go – I’m thinking leaving Friday June 19 afternoon, coming back Saturday afternoon (because I have to host the indie film night at Peak Summit at Saints Saturday night – come see indie film at 8 pm June 20 at Saints in St. Matthews)
What do you do to relax? Where’s your favorite spots to get away? Find a way to feed your soul this week and recharge….There are lots of way to do it regardless of time, money or anything else you think might be stopping you. Even pampering yourself in your own backyard can do wonders to recharge you for the coming week. DO IT!
So, the zombie shoot pulled off without a hitch! I couldn’t have asked for things to go any smoother!!
Divinity Rose in her furry chaps
The preparation leading up to it was exhausting! I hosted Sub Rosa, the Gypsie Courtyard monday night where we featured Ben Evans of Yert.com, who had hilarious episodes to share with us. In addition to that, we featured Mike Wright’s music and some talented acting by Jon Adams. Some amazing filmmakers also showed up and shared some of their work, and it kept me out late. I got just a few hours sleep before I had to get on the ball picking up items from sponsors and getting everything ready for the shoot. With help from Taylor, I was able to get it all done by about 2 in
the morning….So, I got about 4 hours sleep and then had to be up at 6 am to get out the door and pick up a couple more items such as the generat
or and Heine Bros coffee before heading to Lagrange. We arrived about 9 am and I didn’t return home until about 1:30 am the next morning, because of clean up and then dropping off equipment and items after the shoot. Needless to say, I was pretty exhausted.
Everyone on the set was amazing, though. I am so truly blessed to have had such a beautiful group of people on board. They really made the project a HUGE success. Everyone had something beautiful and awesome to contribute.
Over the next couple weeks, behind the scenes videos and photos are going to show up here, but here’s one of Kri, Headdy and I gathering the items to transform ourselves into wild hearted fun lovin, zombie herdin cowgirls!
One of the reasons, I’ve come to a place where I was able to make this video and have such an awesome experience is because I faced my difficulty trusting others. Film is such a collaborative process that you have to be able to have faith in the abilities of those helping you and trust their know – how. It was such an amazing opportunity to witness the power of a group effort with people who trust each other. You have to let go of control and move with the day. What is something that you want to accomplish? What’s something you have to let go of? How can you let go of control and trust in the vision for your life and where it takes you? Do you have problems trusting certain people or situations? What would you find most freeing?
Don’t forget, if you’re receiving this via email, you’ll have to come over to the site to see the video Also, don’t forget to leave me a comment and share this with all your friends
Love, light and blessings to send you through your dream as Divinity rises within you.
Well, I’m gearing up for zombies. For those of you that don’t know, I am in performance duo called “Doomsday Lover”. It’s about week until we shoot the zombie western for our piece “The Dead Walk the Earth”. If you’d like a preview and to hear the track live, check us out at Diamonds Pub and Billiards this Saturday at 9:30 pm.
This video is kind of a big deal for me. It’s the largest I’ve directed/produced with a full cast and crew, livestock and an external location on a gorgeous 500 acre horse farm that offers trail rides. I’m really excited about it. The cast includes Tony and Myself, The Sirens, Rani Newman, Danny O day, an ovw wrestler, and an array of other beautiful souls! It’s quite studded with musicians and other local shining hearts of art!
As busy as I’ve been with Sub Rosa: The Gypsie Courtyard and getting ready for this shoot, I still had some time over the weekend to get away to a local park with my friend, Taylor. It was nice to be out in nature. I really needed it.
Here’s some clips. Enjoy!
One thing I’ve really learned as a producer of live and video events is to learn to let go of control issues – the constant changing and shifting world of entertainment will certainly teach you to live in the now. It’s usually by letting go that I am given what I need. What about you? How can letting go of control help you in accepting the gifts flowing towards you? What kind of “have tos” have you put in place that are blocking you from realizing your dreams? What about foam fighting? Wanna take me on? Let’s do it!!
I’ve really been on the go the last couple weeks, and I’ve got some great news to relay.
I’ve really been blessed in the last few weeks with PROGRESS.
I’ve been quietly paying attention to what I see unfolding in my own life and all around me….That’s how dreams work, you know. They percolate within us and then begin to flow forth once we give them the freedom to do so.
What is that I see? A beautiful dream -
1) In our city….
I see a beautiful dream unfolding in Louisville – I meet so many amazing people with such beautiful individual dreams that this past weekend was even more powerful as I met with many in one place who are willing to embrace and support each other. It is so good to see more people realizing the importance of celebrating and supporting local business and creating a strong community. It is so important to be a part of a strong community that can sustain itself. Are you a part of Mighty Kindness?
Check out this short video to get a feel of what a beautiful day it was:
And in case you didn’t know, May 15th has been declared “Bike to Work Day”
2) In the lives of my friends:
My friend, Jason, got his insurance and is branching out more and more with his own roofing business! Congratulations! Also, major props and a Happy Birthday to my friend Mike Wright, who has completed his first experimental short film, Transcendence. I was honored to perform in it (and so was Cody!)
Check it out:
3) In my own life – After a year of hosting The Speak Easy, I’ve changed the name to Sub Rosa: The Gypsie Courtyard. In commemoration of the old name, we gave out almost 100 Makers Mark mason jars etched with the words “Speak Easy Social”. The kick off at our new venue, Diamonds Pub and Billiards, was a huge success. You can read more about it and see a video of some of the acts at the Sub Rosa blog, where I also post and pass along Louisville arts and entertainment news/opportunities. Everyone had a great time, and the acts that turned out were all amazing. An array of comedy, magic, music, poetry and even the Great Baldini showed up to hammer nails into his face.
Check out this small sampling of the featured poet, Danny O Day, and featured music group, Serpent Wisdom ! Everyone also enjoyed the featured movie, Fangs for the Memories.
Rv Update: I got the brake pads replaced on the RV – HOORAY! It still needs some more brakework done, but it is mobile again. I’m almost ready to begin accepting sponsorships.
So, what’s been up with you? What evidence have you seen that your dream is unfolding all around you? What kind of dream are you allowing to billow forth from the very core of your heart? Please leave me a comment and let me know what evidence you’ve found (no matter how small)… Then cling to that evidence and plow ever forward!
The last week has been an interesting one. It’s been crazy busy with lots of ups and downs.
First, let us go up, shall we?
I was able to shoot an experimental film with a friend for my poem “Keys to Broken Dreams” – it was a lot of fun and I’m really looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
Donavan is a wrestler, and he was great to work with. We shot at the waterfront park near the Tumbleweed.
Donavan was a really good sport. The set up for this scene really took a lot of patience from him just laying there as we set up everything around him.
Cody was my assistant, and he did a great job.
My pal Norm (from last week’s video) was kind enough to let us use his apartment and mirrors for this scene.
Now, everybody hold your hands up and scream as we take the roller coaster downward!
The brakes went out on my RV. I haven’t been able to drive it and won’t until they are fixed. My super mechanic has been too busy to be able to look at it.
Now lean back as we head up again: I have a friend coming to look at the brakes . In the meantime, I’ve been busy planning and have completed the cast and crew for an upcoming Doomsday Lover video to be shot next month. Oh yeah! Be prepared to be amazed.
And back down again: Due to the brakes being out and other circumstances, Cody and I missed Thunder over Louisville this year.
If you aren’t familiar with the term, it is the huge air and fireworks show that kicks off two weeks of Derby festivities every year. 7-800,ooo people turn out for it.
The fireworks last for half an hour, and the show is the largest in North America. Here’s just a small clip shot by my friend Anna A.K.A. Super Geek ( ohhh, she’s a super geek, super geek, she’s super geeky):
upside: To make up for it, we made our own personal thunder.
And terrifyingly downward: I was working yesterday on the computer when I heard Cody screaming outside like he was being attacked…I thought for sure a dog was mauling him. I ran outside to see what was going on, and I couldn’t find him anywhere… I yelled for him a couple times… Turns out he had taken his dog next door into the neighbors yard where Chase found a small kitten and picked it up in his mouth before taking off with it. Thankfully, the kitten was fine – just really pissed off…and with good reason.
Sooo, in the ups and downs where are you? Are you enjoying the ride? Where do you keep your focus? On the ups? On the downs? Or do you run around in a tshirt that says “bissfully unaware”?
SPILL IT! (and then click the share button below )
Yesterday, I rode to Lagrange, Ky with Norm. Norm is my “go to guy” – a producer, an art director, a camera man, a talented artist and clearly a male. At least, I’m pretty sure he is. I mean… I’ve never checked to be sure. Sometimes it’s hard to tell gender in the Artist species, but he shows all the usual male markings, and his obstinate insistence in using unnecessary technology further confirms my suspicions.
We headed down to Lagrange, Kentucky to check out a farm for our upcoming video, “The Dead Walk the Earth”. This is the first video that will be released on Diaries of a Godling. We’re all uber excited. You are, too. I can tell! My super psychic senses are tingling.
You can get a summary of our trip and the mapping skills of the great I-Phone with this enlightening video. What’s your favorite technological obsession? What is your biggest frustration with technological obsessions? Do you look forward to the zombie western?
I give you: The Manly Obsession with Gadgetry
Also, we started stripping wallpaper in the RV only to decide that we want to replace some of the walls. Cody ripped a miraculous critter shaped patch! His comments further express manly obsession.
(If you’re receiving this by email, you’ll need to click on the title above to come see the videos!!)

I can’t believe it’s been another week…time to reflect and check in…The last week FLEW by!
I’ve been so busy that I’ve been running to keep up! I
1)had repairs done to the Rv on a couple different days,
2)moved all of my stuff into storage in my friend’s garage,
3) sold a bunch of stuff I didn’t need/want on Craigslist ( I love Craigslist- it paid for the engine repairs).
4) Went to three children’s birthday parties (including Cody’s which I had to buy the supplies for, set up, host, etc)
5) cleaned out a refrigerator that has probably not been cleaned in over a year at least.
6) Scheduled some very exciting upcoming video shoots
7) gave the boy a mohawk (the boy is my love term for Cody) Entered a poetry fellowship contest for $15,000 (Cross your fingers, light a candle, say a prayer!)
9) all the usual life stuff
10) actually did get some sleep
11) broke down on my way to Carly Rae’s to host the Speak Easy
After replacing the throttle cable and fuel pump, it was still breaking down.
Check out what I look like frazzled and sans make up in this misadventure when the RV stalled followed by *insert dramatic music here* the death of a battery.
I took it to the mechanic the next day and he replaced the fuel filter and fuel line for me. He didn’t even charge for labor! I am so blessed! It’s been running great ever since!
By Friday night, I was in the middle of a nervous break down, but after Cody’s birthday party Saturday, things returned to a slightly slower pace…for about two days. Coming up this week, I’m acting in two short films, visiting an awesome poetry/film festival at the University of Louisville, and Mike Driskell will be starting the renovation of the inside of the RV….and I’ll be taking some video of it!
Oh! A nice little surprise to add in to it all! I won this great little prize package from my blog pal, Jake over at his Blog :)
Has your week been as manic as mine? I sure hope that things are unfolding in your life that bring you an abundance of joy as you realize your wildest dreams!
Leave me a comment or two about a misadventure of your own
Things have been crazy busy since I got the RV! I’m having to run to keep up!
The great news is I have obtained a sponsor who will be doing the inside renovation for me! Driskell Home Repair Service! (Stay tuned for the video of the conversion!) Mike Driskell is an awesome guy who really puts his heart into his work and has been known to support artists on more than one occasion.
Turns out the inside of the Rv needed more than the wallpaper stripped. There had been a previous leak, so we’re going to completely replace the walls, cabinetry…and the flooring needed replacing as well…although we’re keeping some of the framework, the bathroom, the appliances, wiring, because they’re all great!
The engine needed some work, too! I found an awesome mechanic who is living his dream as he opens a shop this week! He was tired of working for people that ripped others off, so Chris and Daniel are opening D and S Auto Repair! Congratulations on creating your dream! I can’t believe the awesome price they gave me for all the work he’s done so far:
Timing was way off, he fixed it.The vaccuum system needed to be rerouted, the throttle cable was replaced, the fuel pump needed to be replaced – all this for less than $150 (including new parts!)
They are extremely passionate about what they do and he really knows his stuff, especially with older models.
Next, I need to replace the windshield wiper motor, the blades, have the oil changed, and replace the fuel line, which we’re going to have to hunt down in the junk yard! WHOOT! That should be fun…heh…. a huntin’ we will go…a huntin’ we will go…
In addition to moving a bunch of stuff into storage, we’ve been hunting for an office space and added a member to our family.
Meet Chase: I can’t say he’s the brightest dog I’ve ever met, but he sure is loving! He was a narcotics force trainee reject…
Now, I see why. It took about twenty minutes to get him to hold still for this photo.
I like to look at him and say “You got hooked on the goods, man! You’re off the force!”
He is so full of love and hyper..he’s extremely friendly..but he is dense.
He was a birthday gift to Cody, and they’re perfect for each other..They run each other wild and wear each other out.
Thanks to your help, I will be naming the RV “Divinity Rising”, which really suits it. My story is the story of Divinity rising within me and I want to use the Rv to travel to meet and work with other people who follow their dreams as Divinity Rises within them. I’ll be featuring those travels right here.
According to thesaurus.reference.com, the following are all synonyms for “faith”: loyalty, conviction, truth, truthfulness, belief, allegience, dependence.
Three years ago, I had a vision of my life purpose. I had a vision that I should get rid of as much as possible and hit the road to meet, gather, and show off pure hearts with a video show as I performed, home schooled my son and sold my creations. It’s been a long and winding road, and I think I about got to the point of thinking the day would never come. I still kept the promise in mind and followed where I was led, but I also found myself running here and there trying all sorts of different things to “make” it happen instead of making it the primary focus and just doing it. I also faced the fears and blocks that I had in place that would keep me from doing it. Looking back, I think I really expected it to come from somewhere else. I was waiting for someone to show up and say “here ya’ go” and hand it to me.
The last three years were shifting as I tried to find others to help me accomplish this vision, and had excuse after excuse for not doing it, such as needing the perfect bus, needing a bunch of sponsors, needing a camera crew. In addition, I still had worries over what others would think (mostly family), and if things would be “okay”. Well, I finally came to a point of realizing I didn’t need any of that, and if I was doubting, I wasn’t truly having faith in where I was led. Those were just excuses. As soon as I decided to “just do it”, I was blessed with an amazing opportunity!
My faith has paid off…finally!! The day has come!
Thanks to Bill Sprangler at Roseislandphotos.com for the photos!
I think Cody had given up on the dream, too. His face was awesome when he realized it was ours. He screamed and couldn’t believe it.
I found this baby on Craigslist, and trekked all the way to Salem, Indiana to check it out and buy it.
The first thing we did was run out of gas. Just as Cody and I were giving each other high fives and reveling in our glee, the engine sputtered out. HA! This is going to be a lot of fun!
Lexington performer Mike Wright Conquers the roof at the Louisville Speak Easy
It is old, and it needs cosmetic work, but the engine is great! So, the first few episodes of our web show will be fixing it up!! I hope you’ll enjoy them!
Party in the RV- Roni Jonah, James Tackett, Avri hanging out at the RV unveiling at Louisville Speak Easy
I will be posting my web show here, while Cody will have one of his own at his site.
Here’s the thing. Our chariot needs a name. I’m asking YOU to vote! Vote for one of the options below OR make a suggestion of your own in the comments!
May we be a constant reminder to remain loyal to the truth your heart whispers to you. Our visions have no time line on when they will be realized. We often have certain blocks within ourselves that must be released before the visions can flow from our hearts into the world around us. Always follow your dream. I believe in you!
What is your suggestion for a name? Do you have a dream that you are creating? Where do you think our first road trip should be?
