Debuting a new song this week!

Monday, March 21st, 2011

smallHey everyone! I’m so excited about tonight! I’m performing at the Mother Lodge festival in Louisville, Kentucky with NYC Lady Rizo and a slew of other talented performers like Tyrone Cotton, JP Lebangood, Adam Rapp and Craig Wright.

I got to see Lady Rizo last year and she had me in stitches/awe the entire time! She is just in town for tonight! I can’t say enough good things about her. JP Lebangood is a local favorite performer of mine as well. Billed as “The Mad Bastard”, he lives up to his moniker in a way that forces you to laugh at his bouts of madness. He is an extremely talented writer and comedian. I’m performing a snippet from Doomsday Lover including Baby Girl and Soul Hungry, which means I’ll be all dolled up!

There is a 7pm and 9 pm show, Cost is $8

I’ll be performing/releasing a new song titled Broken as part of a live art exhibit with the Broken Doll photos that I did with Jada Parks. I’m excited to bring this new song to you, but am even more excited about the delivery method in being a living piece of art. I will be there live as a broken doll, surrounded by broken dolls, chained to the exhibit of broken doll photos. This will happen as part of Motherlodge on Friday 3/25. I believe tickets are $8. Also going on that night:

“Superwolf (NYC) Four 1 Act plays of rock and roll and extreme confessions written by Bekah Brunstetter, Jason Grote, Joel Horwood(UK) and Eric Meyer. Featuring: Kate Benson, Jamie Effros, Evan Enderle, and Sherri Kronfeld. Music by JANITORS OF THE APOCALYPSE “

artographyIf you can’t make it Friday night to see the release of Broken, you can come to Artography at Creation Gardens on 725 E Market St on Saturday, where the exhibit will be set up/I will be performing. There will be over 100 artists, bands, music, and a good chunk of proceeds go to support three important nonprofit organizations, including the Fairness Campaign. Saturday’s festivities begin at 4 p.m. and tickets are $15 Check out the full list of stuff going on at this amazing festival!

The St. Patrick’s Day parade was so much fun! I am so grateful to the forty people who came out as magical people and walked with us or kept it magical on the sidelines! I am so honored to have had each of you as part of the event.  I want to clean up some of the vocals on “Magical People” and have it mastered, but then it will be available to purchase online! Later this week, I will have photos and video for you! Stay tuned!

I hope that this update finds you all well and actively creating your dreams!

In a world where we create what we believe in, I believe in you!

Sick before Showtime

Friday, November 12th, 2010

With just a few days until the opening of Va Va Vintage, I came down with a nasty respiratory infection. I am so grateful to everyone who shared all the home remedies, tips and tricks and health advice.

One of the most interesting was to put vapor rub on your feet and cover it with socks.  It turns out that our feet are the most porous parts of our body. Another friend said that if you rub garlic on your feet, you will taste garlic by morning. I will definitely be spraying disinfectant in my shoes from now on. Just think of all the nastiness our bodies absorb through our feet!

Thinking about that made me think about how our consciousness/souls are always recording. I think our minds are actually the most porous part of our boies. Our senses are constantly recording and everything we take in from the stimuli around us become a part of what we are. That means we have to be careful about what we surround ourselves with! Are we in a toxic or healing environment?

I have to say I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the environment while preparing for the VA VA Vixens show. The entire cast is so wonderful, and living in the country has really been great for me in downtime.

I am excited about the opening of VA VA Vintage on Saturday! I am so in love with my “Jessica Rabbitesque” dress!  We did the tech rehearsal and run-through last night and it was awesome! Some of the acts are so amazing! I’m so honored to be a part of it all. I can’t wait for you to all see it. I hope you get your tickets before they sell out…

Pick up a copy of the Courier Journal tomorrow, and the spread in the LEO.

Opening night is Saturday! Don’t miss it!

Calling The Magical People: Environmental devastation

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

I know I usually reserve this blog to keep you all updated with my business and to encourage you in the pursuits of your dreams, but it is reasons like these that I call to you all to be magical in your every day interactions. MAGICAL PEOPLE are NEEDED.

The oil spill in the gulf is far worse than many may realize.

In the Madness of the Gulf Spill, many are overlooking a spill in Alaska

Here is some information on the very beginning of the effects of the oil spill..

According to a report released today, the oil could reach the atlantic and open ocean this summer!

I’ve only offered a few reasons here to do what you can to support the clean up efforts. This is OUR planet.   Regardless of who is to blame for this, WE have to live here.  It’s time to STOP throwing blame around and be ready to take responsibility like only MAGICAL people can do and step up to the plate. Who is responsible for this is not as important as saving our world.

It’s time to make some NOISE!

The people who control the world are the ones who are willing to step up and be responsible for it.

I know it’s hard to not be outraged. It’s hard to not want to bring judgment to those responsible, but please take all the energy generated from outrage and pour it into saving our world! Bp has only been giving “us” more of what we tell them we want and that’s gas, and lots of it…So really, every person who uses oil in some way, shape, or fashion holds a tiny piece of the blame. REmember! Our responsibility is our POWER. I know that all of you are brave and courageous enough to step up and shine. Nothing can stop us if we stand together without judgment of each other with a focus on healing our world.

With that being said, join me in stepping up and making some noise!!

The US population is 307,006,550. Imagine if every person donated $10.  Wait…let’s make it a little easier.. the WORLD population is 6,697,254,041. Imagine if everyone donated $1. Not possible? A pipe dream?  Maybe.. But maybe a pipe dream is just what’s needed to fix broken pipes, and just a fraction of that would go a long long way in helping.

Here are some ways to help:

If you plan to donate money, please do a little research before blindly donating.  Larger organizations tend to have more resources at their fingertips and may be able to better utilize the funding they receive.  (Click any of the following links to learn more)

6 ways to help

More ways to help

Buy Dawn dish soap to raise funds or text “wildlife” to  20222 to give a $10 donation to National Wildlife Fund

One of the biggest ways you can help with the clean up of this disaster and to prevent other horrendous atrocities is by letting your politicans know how you feel..remind them that the magical people hold the power, and they are public servants.

FIND your representatives and congressman easily by just entering your zip code…

WRITE THEM! Tell them it’s time to start researching and accepting CLEANER Energy methods..they’re everywhere and are proven to work!! Check out how the much smaller country of Brazil was able to completely remove themselves from oil dependency. If they can, surely the large and powerful  US of A can.  Entire countries in Europe are run on clean energy.  USA is falling behind in being a world leader and all these secrets and cracks are going to break us!

PLEASE Help spread the word, and do your part to call others to be MAGICAL.. SHARE THIS POST ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER, MYSPACE, with EMAIL LISTS.. You can be magical….you can help heal our world…I BELIEVE IN YOU <3<3<3

Queen of my world….

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

(don’t forget to come to the site to see the photos if you’re reading this by email. While you’re at it, keep the ripple of Divinity going and hit “share on facebook, twitter, email” etc…thanks!)

I have to start by saying how grateful I am for all of the support, love, and blessings I find myself surrounded by. I am reminded time and time again that true beauty is found when people join together to accomplish more. You are all so wonderful and amazing. I have to pinch myself to remind myself that I’m dreaming the most wonderful dream ever.

Speaking of beautiful people, I received a beautiful gift last week from Matthew Blake Wallace. A video documentation of a peace mural that some beautiful people from Louisville joined together to create on Halloween weekend. Matthew did an awesome job editing it, and his music is perfect for it.

I’ve been busy preparing for my book release, huge release show so it’s been a while since I posted. So, there’s a lot to share. Sorry if it’s too much at once.

I wanted to share some photos by Taylor Woods from the photo shoot for my first Graphic Novel… I hope you enjoy them. Taylor is always a pleasure to work with.

I find myself in the midst of a whirlwind of activity, doing my best to stay centered – the eye of the storm. I’ve got a lot of shows coming up with Sub Rosa that will be fun. We’ve got a space theme in May for derby, and we revisit the zombies in June for our one year anniversary of making the zombie cowgirl video and being at Diamonds for one year. Can you believe that it has been that long?

On a more sacred note, I’m excited to be moving forward with my own art as well.

As my last post pointed out, I’m about to release my first graphic novel in the “Diaries of a Godling” series. The series is really about learning to be ruler of my world. To be ruler of your world, you really just need to draw out the boundaries of your world, then journey forth to build upon it.

Last week, I was asked to speak at Ivy Tech and had a blast doing so! (if you’d like me to come and speak to your school, church, group – don’t hesitate to let me know.) One of the people in attendance came to me afterward and said the muse hit her while she was listening to what I was saying. She had to start writing. I’m so proud of her, I wanted to share it with all of you.

She handed me this:
I’m on top of the world.
Nothing you say to me,
nothing you do to me
can change my stance.

I’m on top of the world.
You did your best
to bring me down.
You hurt me physically;
You hurt me mentally.

I’m on top of the world.
You were locked away,
and I had nothing to fear.
You had no control over me.

I’m on top of the world.
You came back for me;
I was afraid,
and you had me where you wanted me.

I’m on top of the world.
I will no longer be afraid.
I live life as I please.
I will never let you harm me again.

I’m on top of the world.
Nothing you say to me,
nothing you do to me,
can change my stance…as queen of my world.

Releasing first Graphic Novel!

Friday, February 19th, 2010

I will be making another more personal post in the next day or so. I have so much to report :D

Writer/Performer/Producer/Promoter Divinity Rose is releasing and signing copies of Diaries of a Godling: The Promise on March 14,2010 from 12:34 pm – 2:34 pm at The Great Escape on Bardstown Road in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the first graphic novel in her Diaries of a Godling series.

Divinity is a poet/performer with an unusual background including foster homes, teenage homelessness, abuse and more. She is now known for her writing/performing in Louisville and also for creating, producing Sub Rosa: The Gypsie Courtyard, which has become a staple in the Louisville arts and entertainment scene. She also speaks to high schools, colleges, and other groups about the creative process and creating your dreams. As she found her way to creating her own identity, she wanted to be able to encourage others in doing so by sharing her journey. The Diaries of a Godling series allows her to share the many things she loves (art, photography, poetry, collage) as she shares the lessons that have led her out of her nightmares and into her dreams.

The term “Godling” comes from the idea of a baby spirit learning to grow up. Like a gosling who aspires to fly, finding the way to ruling your own world can be an awkward process. The books are like scrap books of her writings, memories, art, and visions. As the series progresses, a story unfolds. The story blossoms in more than one medium, though. She is also releasing online videos that are a part of an online game that invites readers/viewers to solve puzzles to move further through the pathways of her mind/spirit.

“These diaries; they’re a map to trace my journey from created human to creator aware of my own Divinity…to trace my steps through life, death, afterlife, and rebirth. May they help you as you map your own journey and discover your own forgotten kingdom.” – The Promise

The book can be pre-ordered at www.diariesofagodling.com or at The Great Escape for $11.11. To celebrate the release, Divinity is producing a show at the Comedy Caravan that night (3/14) called Poets, Prophets, and Punks, which includes the debut of her band Sagun and performances by Ron Whitehead, William F Devault, Truth B. Told, Touch Armor Class, Jimmy Besseck, Huh Robots, Revenge of Ricky Williams, Lot 13, and the live debut of 9-year-old actress and singer/songwriter Rhyan Sprague from Richmond, Ky. Tickets are available for $10 ahead of time at The Great Escape or Ear-X-Tacy. Admission will be $15 day of show.

Some offerings from the shadows

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

I just wanted to make a quick post to say Happy Holidays to everyone. I am so grateful for all of the wonderful support and friendship over the last year. It has been an amazing year. I swear I’ve lived 5 lifetimes in the last 12 months. … Such is the way of the phoenix, I suppose.

For the holidays, I’m just going to share some pieces here that I don’t believe I’ve posted before. Some of them are darker pieces, as I’m bound and determined to love and accept my dark side with the light. I hope in the coming year you will also realize and accept the parts of you lurking in the shadows and allow them to feed your passion’s fire.

I hope you enjoy them :D Let me know which is your favorite at divinityrose at gmail.com

Spiritually Aroused

“I love them..
The sacred speakers of the God words.
The ones who rip us apart as they weave prophecies and spit fire.
The ones who continue the hunt for holy no matter how mad it makes them.
The ones who ride insanity like the dirty whore she is until they are done with her and send her on her way to tease another poor poet who is hungry with lust for the divine.
They make my breath catch, my heart beat, my loins burn and my eyes roll back in the back of my head in a fit of uhhhh.
yeah, I’m spiritually aroused. ”

Phoenix Forged
“In the fires that burn those who are caught sleeping
I am forged, springing forth stronger and brighter than ever.
The trials that many cry about
Are the rites of passage
That afford me the secret wisdom
I have sought for.
I emerge pure and shining,
Illuminated from within
To light the world around me
As I fly to the west.
Digging in, I grasp the earth with
My still smoking talons
And take her with me for a ride
That leads nowhere and everywhere
In the blink of an eye. ”

My Two moms:
You called her crazy.
She called you a liar.
You cut me with your words and ring,
She killed me with sugar and spice
before abandoning me again.
I hate you both
I love you both
I am you both.

ebb
“Within me beats a primal drum
A sound that’s only felt by some…
Those who are still enough to hear
the music that’s unheard by ear.

I feel an ebb. I feel a flow
I’m fed by what there is to know.
I twitch my pen to watch words fall,
I utter sounds to shatter walls.

My seed within you sprouts new growth
your heart’s desire: a sacred oath.
The earth rumbles when I sigh
Waters rise as I learn to fly.”

Poet or a Prophet?
“Am I a poet or a prophet, or just a pile of misplaced words and magic chords who’ve become unjust lords as they run through the wires once forged by liars who used to scream a lot about hellish fires.

I’ve journeyed far, I’ve journeyed near, running from this thing called fear, swayed by every jaunt and jeer, waiting to be in the clear..reaching for that next mountain top, will it never stop?
I’m waiting for the sky to drop.”

Techno lies

“Technology helps us lie…
Pills mean you don’t have to cry.
Superman can really fly,
and it takes so long to die.
Everyone can spell,
and no one goes through hell.
Push a button if you fell
It’s true, your broken thoughts can sell. ”

That’s it for now, I guess. See you next year :D Can’t wait to see/hear about your next recreation of yourselves. I know you’re gonna be fabulous…just as soon as you realize you already are…

Feeling the Realing…

Monday, September 28th, 2009

It sure has been an intense changing of the season….A real whopper. Everywhere around and within me seems to be a return to feeling: a real purging energy.  I look at myself and many around me and see a lot of hidden feelings surfacing to be faced. It seems that what we are feeling is a push to be real. We are in the midst of a “realing”.

How real are we? Are we being true to ourselves? Are we being real with ourselves and others? What are we hiding behind? My inner child stands within me pointing at different things,  screaming “BULLSHIT” and waiting impatiently for me to toss those things out.

Are you feeling the Realing?

In the crazy swirl of stuff going on, I find myself in a push of growth, progress and surging forward….sometimes, it’s hard to remember to take time to be still when you’re in the middle of such momentum.

When it all backs up, it’s got to surface somewhere, and it surfaced with a waterfall of emotion Saturday. I took a day to really let myself feel and boy, what a feeling. I must have spent a good five hours in tears. I needed it, though. I find that I have a huge need. We all do..a need to be real…a need to be clean…

When’s the last time you took time to do some serious cleaning?

Speaking of being still, Sub Rosa mentalist (who also performs Zap Hypnosis) Joe Riggs was in a car accident this past weekend. It’s amazing, and I’m so grateful to still have him in our lives. He was hit by a semi going 70 MPH..it hit him, spun him ’round, hit him again, causing him to spin out across five lanes of traffic before hitting a wall.  I’m amazed and pleased to announce that he will still be at the show tonight at Diamonds.

Check out this video of him at our show at Sub Rosa: The Gypsie Courtyard at the Tequila Factory

Also, I had so much fun at our Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves show. I was most pleased to be surrounded by Gypsies! Check out this belly dancing by Adrar Al Badra caught on tape by Michelle Bishop

I danced the night away. I miss dancing.  It was a very happy night for me, indeed. Surrounded by belly dancing, pirates, leather working and princess bride references!! Hurray!

Short update this week…I’ve got a lot in the works and can’t wait to spill my guts about it all, but that will have to wait… In the meantime, I hope you are all releasing the feelings welling up within, so you can be clear and ready to go for the new and exciting things on their way into your lives.

Thank you for being here with me.   I need you.

Riding the Moose…to Victory!

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

As most of you probably know, this blog is about following my trail as I create my dream in the hopes to encourage you as you do the same.  I’ve found a  big part of that process to be to apply the things I learn and to use all the resources at my fingertips.  In addition to that, learning to treat your passion like a business can help you make tons of progress, but it’s a fine line to not let it become a soul sucking monster.  How can you find the balance?

Squeaky CLean Fun

Squeaky CLean Fun

Well, I’ve been super busy forging my new partnership with Chris Rachel Oseland of Palmyran Rebel Events. We are two geeky girls   who are making a huge effort to really push preconceived boundaries of success….Being in promotions, production and performing really requires us to be able to wear many hats – Going from business meeting to costumed weirdo in zero seconds flat.

IMG_0303We needed a break from the heaviness of our meeting today, so we went in search of balance and stepped outside the restaurant we were meeting at to have some Iphone photo fun! As we ran around taking photos and releasing all tension as we got ridiculously silly, I came across a moose – and I just knew I had to tame this wild and majestic beast.

OOOH, look at me.... a business tycoon with pretty flower accessories!

A very influential person in my life, Sharon Fountain (of Performance Development Corporation and president of the National Association of Self Esteem) has a wonderful analogy in which she uses the moose…. a dead moose actually.   She uses a moose on the floor in between two people to represent something that can keep two people from communicating. The moose represents some issue between the two that neither wants to deal with. So it lays there. The people step over and around it, but it’s still there and eventually begins to stink and taint their experience.  Until the moose is dealt with, things will continue to become more and more unpleasant.

This is also a great way to think about issues within ourselves that keep us from hearing our inner guidance and allowing our dreams to communicate to us on how to achieve them. Many of us love to hear the positive feel good stuff of spirituality that promises us a purposeful life, but (as one of my songs say)  following our dreams means confronting our nightmares.  We have to deal with the moose.

I’ve outlined the steps  to this in interpretive photo dance!

Step one: (sadly I did not get a photo for the first step).

First step is seeing the moose and realizing what it is. I did this today by coming to a screeching halt in the parking lot of Lynn’s Paradise Cafe, lifting my arm to point and screaming “MOOOOOOOSE!!!!!!!!“.

I recently realized that I’d put off admitting some things from my life had made me sad and that it was okay to be sad about them. There were some things about myself I’d been refusing to see.  They recently came to light, and I was willing to take a deep breath and say hello.

The first step is always the hardest!

The first step is always the hardest!

Step Two

Be willing to take on the challenge of the Moose! It may be that you’ve gotten a bit out of shape like me. First step is to believe and decide that regardless of your current shape, you CAN tame the moose! Begin it! The first step is always the hardest!

Although I saw a moose in some areas of my life, I put off making the first step to dealing with them for quite some time. Once I made the first step, I was committed and the process was in motion.

Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all?

Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all?

Step Three

Keep Going. You may not be able to see the progress that you’ve made while in the midst of trying to overcome the moose; you may feel all turned upside down at times, but you are actually getting somewhere. Don’t get stuck, and remember you can turn around if you find yourself a little  off course.

I’ve done a lot of work within the last year, and sometimes it feels like I’ve gotten no where, or find a new thing rising up within  me to deal with. Then I take a moment to reflect on how different my life is in comparison to three years ago and I am tremendously proud of myself.

holy cow! no moose! I'm on a moose!

holy cow! no moose! I'm on a moose!

Step Four

Don’t let fear stop you. Just take a moment to reflect and look at how far you’ve come.  Have faith that you are almost there.

Although I see many bright things on the horizon, it doesn’t mean that I don’t daily deal with the temptation to fear or doubt. Forging a faith strong enough to move mountains takes daily practice.

aww, I love you, moose.

aww, I love you, moose.

Step Five

Learn to love the moose. Oh that’s right. I said it.

I recently had the revelation that spirituality wasn’t about removing the items from yourself that you don’t like or refusing to let them come to mind, but rather learning to embrace and love ALL those parts of yourself – including the moose -  how? by dealing with them of course!

IMG_0316Step Six

Claim VICTORY as the wild moose rider you are!  Ride that moose with all the pride you can muster. It might not go away, but now you know it for what it is, have learned to rise above it and can ride it like a pro when it comes around :)

I embrace what comes my way to deal with and allow it to surface when it needs to, but am more experienced in ways to work with it instead of fighting it.  For example, I found certain things trying to haunt me/accuse me, so I imagined little gargoyles for each of them that I mentally patted on the head while cooing things like “Awww, do you want some attention? Poor little baby needs some love”.

What kind of  Moose have you been hiding from? What lies in your past that you have not ever admitted, dealt with? What are you refusing to see about yourself? What nightmares are keeping you from the realization of your dreams? What kind of silliness can you begin to help you learn to ride your moose?

Don't sulk! Be a rebel and sneak on to the ride it anyways!

Don't sulk! Be a rebel and sneak on to the ride it anyways!

Voices may always rise to tell you that you’re not good enough, pretty enough, strong enough…… Don’t let any voices tell you that you’re not tall enough to ride the moose.

IIIIIIII DID IT!!!!!!!!

IIIIIIII DID IT!!!!!!!!

If you’re not ready to tackle the moose yet, don’t forget to take pride and joy in tackling some smaller beasts within your life first as you work your way up.

Yes…We did a lot of laughing today.  Please tweet, facebook, ping the moose! Share us with your friends, family and loved ones who might also enjoy a laugh…Help your loved ones ride the moose, too!

Don’t forget, if you are getting this via email, you have to come to www.doggeddreamcreations.com/divinityrising to see the photos!

Making of a Zombie video….and the death of an RV

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

The good news is…. I’ve finished the first of the behind the scenes videos from the zombie/cowgirl shoot.

Hurray! It was tough editing it down – Taylor did a great job really catching the entire day, but I’m trying to keep all my videos under ten minutes, so I tried to keep to the funnies.

So, Here’s the video! Enjoy! (don’t forget – if you’re reading this in your inbox, you’ll have to come over to the blog to see the video at www.doggeddreamcreations.com/divinityrising

On another note, I’m mourning the engine of my RV. The engine locked up last night on my way back from taking a load to my new studio.  So, we had it towed back to it’s parking space at the studio. I’ve got a mechanic looking for another motor for me at junkyards, but I’m waiting to see cost on that.  In the meantime, I’m looking for a cheap alternative vehicle.  Poor poor Rv. It was quite an adventure in itself! The engine locked up while we were on the expressway, so I’m very grateful that we are all safe. We also noticed a cracked manifold, so it may just be time to say good bye to this RV.

There’s not really a whole lot I can do right now except try to be still and listen.  I find that moments like this are a great opportunity to reflect and check our inner road maps.  So, I’m maintaining faith that all works out for the best and trusting that all works together for good :) And, I’m enjoying getting the new studio set up.

On the upside, the Gypsie Courtyard events continue to do well and are growing.   They’ve been more fun than I ever hoped for, and I’ve really enjoyed the last couple weeks.

When following your dream/the path you feel is laid out for you, it’s pretty troubling when you hit road bumps. However, seeing these road bumps as opportunities can really help you learn to fly over them.  What difficulties are teaching you to maintain your focus this week? How is your faith and trust being tested  in your ability to make everything work for your benefit?

Leave me a comment…let me know I’m not alone. Share the video with a friend or two. Give me a hug.

Thanks… I needed that.
