This dealer’s got BlackJack on the Mind

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

blogposter Hello all my beautiful inklings, magical people and godlings! Just when I thought I wouldn’t have a big show until January, I was asked to co-produce and perform in a show on December 11 at the Rudyard Kipling in Louisville, Kentucky.

Prepare your minds! On that fateful night, Cirque Airotic aerial burlesque troop and I bring you BLACKJACK!

I’ll be dealing up 21 delicious acts that make everyone a winner including singers, dancers, comedy, magic and more :D Can you beat the dealer at her own game?

Tickets are only $12. That’s a lot of entertainment for less than $20! The imagery on this one is going to be beautiful, and two of the aerialists will dangle amongst the audience!

Va Va Vintage is finally done. The after party was the most fun I’ve had at karaoke in years. It was pretty much entire bar sing along night. Thirty of us sang Bad Romance, Love Shack, Bohemian Rhapsody…all the sappy party songs..but it was a whole bar of friends and strangers at one with each other. It was one of those rare moments of bliss, where everything else disappears. It makes me a little sad as I hear Boyz II Men singing “hard to say good bye” in my head. It was an awesome cast and show. That’s one of the signs I was slated for show business, though. When I was a child, my favorite thing was going to summer camp and being family with everyone for a couple weeks and then moving on. I made some amazing friendships through the production, and deepened some old ones. I also had to answer a bazillion times that Mike Nusser is not my husband, even though we dance together very well.

Speaking of Mike Nusser. He’s one of my favorite beloveds and we often sing together at my weekly variety show Sub Rosa: The Gypsie Courtyard. We decided to release a recording of us singing his song Suicide last Monday with Larry Doyle on harmonica. I was sick, and the recording is live, so it’s a little rough….but that’s real, and sometimes that’s the best part of Sub Rosa: how raw it is. There’s even a fun little bit of banter at the beginning of it. I think Mike was a little jealous that I was in deep conversation with national poet and beloved Truth B. Told, who was also there and I have video to prove it.

The Free track from Nusser and I is available to listen to at my Reverb Nation page. It is free to download and take a piece of Sub Rosa with you if you are a member of my email newsletter! (If you’re receiving this in your email from ReverbNation) If you aren’t, don’t worry. You can go to my page and sign up or you can go to www.divinityrose.com and sign up! (If you’re receiving this email from ReverbNation, there should be a link at the bottom of this email to download it!)

And don’t forget, I have a contest going right now where you can win $50, one of my new T-shirts and a copy of Diaries of a Godling: The Promise (my graphic novel). All you have to do is help me gather magical people for the end times! We want no one left behind!! You can join my street team at my ReverbNation and click on the mission on the right hand side of the page for instructions on how to use the widgets to gather people and be tracked for the prizes.

Debut of Doomsday Lover!

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

I would love to start this newsleter with “As Va Va Vintage winds down, the deubt of my original show Doomsday Lover gears up”, but Va Va Vintage is not winding  down yet!

Here is a video teaser of Va Va Vintage – Last chance to see it is this weekend!Reserve your tickets online ahead of time so you don’t miss it when it sells out (last Saturday’s show had a line at the door for over an hour! – arrive before 7!)

Here is a great review by Sarah Hinds on Louisville.com

and

Here is the write – up  on the front page of the features section in the Courier Journal

ZOMBIES AND SHOWGIRLS

And I can’t make all of you wait until Va Va Valentine for a group climax! It’s the best part of any story!

What better time than the new year to celebrate life, death and rebirth! I will be leading a life revolution in a post apocalyptic world on January 8th in the debut of my sexy and hilarious show “Doomsday Lover” featuring some of Louisville’s favorite female vocalists, zombies,  a zombie fashion show, the Vixens and original music by myself, Jaime Duvall, Al Holbrook, Mike Nusser.  With much of the burlesque tongue in cheek humor, audience interaction,  and beautiful ladies,  you’ll fall in love with being a part of this show. . If you’re living in a world where you feel surrounded by zombies, how can you be the best lover possible and rise above it all to the world of the living?

In this current crumbling world, this play is delivered right on time!

You don’t want to miss this show. Coming in costume (zombies, survivors, showgirls) is encouraged and will get you $2 off the ticket price of $20.

And if you can’t wait until January 8, come see me and the Vixens on December 8 at Howl at the Moon for “You can’t do that on Piano” Winter Wonderland and Rummage sale. Bring NICE items you don’t want or use anymore  to put on the “Free store” table on the patio so some “free” Christmas shoppin’ can occur.

And if you can’t wait that long, then come  hang out with me on Mondays for Sub Rosa the Gypsie Courtyard :D It’s the wildest variety show in town and I’ve been hosting it for about two and a half years now. Different performances every week, comraderie, and lots of Love to go ’round in a smaller and more intimate setting.

As we enter a time of Thanksgiving, I have to take a moment to say just how grateful I am for each of you and the love, respect and support you offer. Following one’s heart and dreams and the voice of Divinity Rising within is not easy, but I still feel eternally blessed every time I hear from one of you. I only hope that I can encourage and motivate each of you and inspire you in your dreams as much as you do in mine. Thank you. May each of you find something in your lives to revel in gratitude over this week. If you find it hard, remember, the world pours back upon you ten times what you give. So my focus this week is thinking about giving and gratitude <3

Dream well, dream deep and may all paths lead you back to the heart….

Love, Light and Blessings to send you through your dreams.

Your Doomsday Lover,

Divinity Rose

Sick before Showtime

Friday, November 12th, 2010

With just a few days until the opening of Va Va Vintage, I came down with a nasty respiratory infection. I am so grateful to everyone who shared all the home remedies, tips and tricks and health advice.

One of the most interesting was to put vapor rub on your feet and cover it with socks.  It turns out that our feet are the most porous parts of our body. Another friend said that if you rub garlic on your feet, you will taste garlic by morning. I will definitely be spraying disinfectant in my shoes from now on. Just think of all the nastiness our bodies absorb through our feet!

Thinking about that made me think about how our consciousness/souls are always recording. I think our minds are actually the most porous part of our boies. Our senses are constantly recording and everything we take in from the stimuli around us become a part of what we are. That means we have to be careful about what we surround ourselves with! Are we in a toxic or healing environment?

I have to say I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the environment while preparing for the VA VA Vixens show. The entire cast is so wonderful, and living in the country has really been great for me in downtime.

I am excited about the opening of VA VA Vintage on Saturday! I am so in love with my “Jessica Rabbitesque” dress!  We did the tech rehearsal and run-through last night and it was awesome! Some of the acts are so amazing! I’m so honored to be a part of it all. I can’t wait for you to all see it. I hope you get your tickets before they sell out…

Pick up a copy of the Courier Journal tomorrow, and the spread in the LEO.

Opening night is Saturday! Don’t miss it!

Giving a bit of tail before leaving Louisville

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Well, fall is here. I love fall but it also usually sets a push into motion to start clearing out a bunch of stuff that won’t fit the next cycle of  life and rushing through a lot of change  to make way for new stuff before the new year starts.

I know a lot of you are feeling some major shifts in your life right now, too, and I hope you’ll remember that earthquakes always expose our weaknesses so we can move on towards our dreams in a way that is stronger.  The key is to stay focused and be willing to see what areas are being shown to us. If we are willing to see them, we can move on and not deal with the same major cracks again. The nasty little demons we carry with us are what hold us back from being the awesome shining lights we naturally are.  The quickest way to get a demon off your back is to be willing to see it’s there.

I suppose the biggest news I need to address in this newsletter is that I’ve just finished moving . I moved to an awesome little ranch about an hour and a half outside of Louisville.  I’ve had a ton of emails asking where and why, so I’ll answer here.  It’s a small town  between E-town and Leitchfield.  I’m going to be retreating so that I can develop my solo show over the winter and be ready with a show I can tour with by mid-summer.  I’m really excited at the show and team of people that are coming together to make this happen.  I’ll be spending a fair amount of time in Nashville each month as well to do some recording in preparation for that and some small appearances. I also hope to be able to lay out some plans for some evolutions for Sub Rosa. Louisville Sub Rosa is now at Zazoo’s every Monday, starting at a new and earlier 7 p.m. We made this change to accommodate all the people who wished they could come but couldn’t justify staying out so late on a weeknight.

Yes, I will still be hosting Sub Rosa in Louisville on Mondays as long as there is support and a desire for it, although I may occasionally have a guest host. It continues to be important for us to all have a place to connect to each other and support each other, so as long as we are able to connect at Sub Rosa, I will come to town for it or do what I can to  make sure it stays alive.

I also still have monthly shows at Howl at the Moon on Fourth St. Live! They are such an awesome group to work with and really know how to throw a party. They are worthy visiting on a weekend!   This month is November 17 (Wednesday). Get ready for Turkey Bowling with the Vixens in addition to the “You can’t do that on piano” contest.   I hope to see you all there. I have had so much fun with all of you at these shows! I’ve been amazed at the couple hundred that come out to enjoy the buffet, cheap drinks, and pretty girlies.  Let me know if you need tickets to get in for free.

After November, we will be moving our night at Howl at the Moon and “You can’t do that on piano” to the second Wednesday of each month. That means Dec 8, Jan 12, and Feb 9

Speaking of Howl at the Moon, I had an awesome birthday Monster Ball there on the 20th! I absolutely loved giving everyone a bit of tail my Medusa costume by Christiane Nicoulin and hair by my beautiful and only stylist Lee Ann Cooper ( of Younique Salon)…My tail was about four feet long with a rattle at the end, and the cat chased it when I got home and walked through the door!  We had a great turn out with a couple hundred people, and there were some really awesome giveaways!

For more giveaways, play the caption contests on the Sub Rosa FaceBook page :D

Since I’ve been too busy to post in the last couple weeks, I’ve got more to share with you:

I’m ecstatic I got to be a part of the Halloween parade with the Va Va Vixens, and I am really looking forward to our burlesque show next month. I’ve  finished the script and can’t help but giggle at the naughty humor. I’ve been busy with rehearsals with the other vocalists, I’ll be singing with.   My costume for the show is a very bright and sparkly “Jessica Rabbit” dress. I can’t wait for you all to see it! I am having so much fun with this show!!!

The Shows are running November 13, 20,21, 26,27. You can buy tickets at the Alley Theater  website.  Also, check out this article with some history on burlesque and vaudeville and the Va Va Vixens.

Also, Don Smith over at Investcomics.com interviewed me and wrote a review of Diaries of a Godling. Check it out here!

I also got to do a special guest appearance and performance at a Beetlegeuse themed show.

Here are some photos from the last few weeks :D

I have more photos and video to share with you, but it will have to wait until I am home and near my external hard drive.  Until then,

Love, Light and Blessings to send you through your dream

xoxo

The place where all stories meet

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Hello, my beautiful little inklings and godlings!

I have to say that I am really honored to be a part of some of these shows as of late. Sub Rosa continues to grow, and I’ve seen some great new talents coming out. I am starting to pull away from Sub Rosa a little, though, so I can focus on my own performing arts and artistic development. I’ve really been focused lately on taking myself to a new level.  Some of you may know me as “Dreamer with an Ink Fetish”..other as “The showgirl of soul”.  Some of you may have been part of the amazing group that helped the first run of self published  “Diaries of a Godling: The Promise” to sell out, and I am grateful for that. If you haven’t learned by now, I am a girl who is in love with stories. I want to tell stories, live stories and find the places where all stories meet. I want to birth the age of the Living Stories – not so much the age where we begin to live out stories, but rather the age where we realize that is what we are already doing. I’ve got my work cut out for me.

Where have you been? Where are you headed? What is your story??

I have also decreased the number of shows that I do with Sub Rosa so that I can take on some other opportunities. Our shows are currently taking place mostly at Zazoos every Monday and some Friday/Saturdays.

This Friday, Im  hosting a DVD release party for Darshwood the Conjoror!! Performances by Va Va Vixens, Ohlm and Darshwood himself. Check out this article on Darshwood and the party, then head on down to celebrate with us. There is no cost for entry.

Then, on Saturday October 2nd, I’ll be making an appearance and performing a little custom number written just for this event  at Starbase Q during the Beetlegeuce theme show/party.

Part of this new direction includes my new monthly show at Howl at the Moon on 4th St. Live in Louisville, Ky.  I am still glowing a little from the first show there.  It went so well! Over 110 magical people came out to help try to stump the pianists and celebrate with me.  My next show there is October 20, and I’d be happy to give you some tickets to attend for free. It will be a Monster ball! That’s right! It’s themed for Monster movies, so come and show off the monster within.

Speaking of monsters, I just heard Lady Gaga will be coming to Louisville in March 2011. Be on the lookout for an article soon about whether or not her visit might affect how Louisville accepts its homosexual citizens.

I wanted to share some photos with you of the first event:

Aside from Howl at the Moon, I’ve been busy writing the storyline for the upcoming Va Va Vintage Burlesque show. I can’t wait  to emcee it and perform two of my original songs! These shows always sell out, so make sure you get your tickets soon!

In the meantime, please forgive me if these updates are a little more sparse than usual… Divinity is Rising…and it’s keeping me so busy, but I promise to write to you every chance I get. I do hope you’ll rise with me.   It might help if you  go ahead and add or like my Facebook page. I get to leave little love notes there more often in addition to contests with prizes, photos and more.

Howl at the Moon with me….

Monday, September 13th, 2010

Hello, my beautiful godlings!
How are you all doing?  How are your dreams progressing?

I’ve found some very exciting changes occurring in my own journey of becoming.   I’ve picked up some very exciting opportunities, which you may have noticed on the home page of www.divinityrose.com Sub Rosa continues to grow and is at several different venues in two different states.

In addition to writing and hosting the upcoming Va Va Vintage burlesque show, I’m going to be performing/hosting some shows at Howl at the Moon on Fourth St. Live in Louisville, Ky.  I’m very excited because I get to invite as many friends VIP as I want and give them tickets to get in for FREE. In addition to that, they get a free appetizer/dessert buffet from 9 – 11pm while supplies last and since it’s my hometown, local ids get half price drinks! ($3 wells, $2 beers). If you’d like to come as my guest, email me at divinityroseATgmail.com

It’s taken quite some time, but we’re going to be releasing the official version of Dead World, my music video, this Thursday at Steinert’s Pub and Grill in New Albany, IN.  I hope you can make it out for all the zombie goodness! Everyone is encouraged to come in costume!! Free entry.  There will be an all ages screening at 7:30 pm before we do a zombie walk around the neighborhood at 8:30. When we return from the walk at 9 pm, a 21 + party will begin with prizes for best zombie, best hunter, best victim costumes, giveaways, live music by OK Zombie, and comedy by Chris Crowder! Steinerts serves food and drinks, so if you plan to bring someone under 21 to eat..I’d suggest you arrive by 6:30 to make sure you have time before the walk.  Also, Thursdays are $1 beer night at Steinerts.

I have to take a moment to say how grateful I am to be here to write to all of you magical people….Last week, I sat at a restaurant with Cody, and as he finished his school work, I was writing a song about how life isn’t like the movies. We left to run an errand and almost hit a man with a gun who ran in front of my car.  Within moments, the police shot him, wounding him. He had been running away from a failed car jacking.  It reminded me about the movie “Adaptation”, and I was reminded that sometimes life IS like the movies. Life does have extreme ups and downs….and some peaceful “in between” days, too.   It made me take a moment to be truly grateful for my life, how blessed Cody and I are and also how grateful I am to have all of you in my sphere.  Life can only get better as we hold each other all a little closer and take responsibility for shelling out serious blessings to each other. As need goes up in our world, so does crime. Let’s look out for each other where we can.

And check out some articles I’ve shared as I’ve been busy bouncing around town for my shows :D

Shake it up, baby now…

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Have you felt them? The tremors rumbling through our worlds?  The tremors that shake us up and expose the cracks in our foundations so we may build stronger foundations?

I have.  The last couple of weeks  seemed excruciating for me, and not just for me, but for many that I have been in contact with.  I saw many things suddenly uprooted, people fall away, and thought the shaking would never stop, But when it did, I was able to look around the ruins and see the strong pillars that were still standing in my life.

More than ever, I found true friends, great guidance and true blessings to be all that is real. The quakes only served me in showing me where there were weaknesses.  They gave me a chance to examine myself,  those I surround myself with,  what my world consists of right now and what needs to be realigned.  On a grander scale, the shake ups in our collective world such as oil spills give us all the opportunity to come together to do the same thing.

What kind of practices and thought patterns is it time to let go of?

I am ever grateful for the opportunity to learn more about humility, to embrace the beautiful friends I’ve been surrounded by who look to support me as much as I do them, and who truly are my saving grace.

One of my most surprising shake ups was the loss of Diamond’s Pub and Billiards as a venue on Mondays.   It was due to circumstances outside our control and it came as a tremendous shock. I am grateful for the amazing year that we had there, the opportunity it gave us to grow, the great staff there who supported us (especially  Jared Matthews, the bar manager). Within 24 hours, though we were blessed with a new venue:  Zazoo’s Bar and Grill right down the road on Bauer Ave. Come join us there on Mondays to celebrate Louisville Sub Rosa.

Doubly blessed, and just in time, we  were guided to a new venue on the Indiana side of the river: Steinert’s Grill and Pub on 401 E Main in New Albany is our new home on Thursday nights! They also have $1 domestic longnecks..They have a great stage and lighting that allows us to do a more theatrical/vaudevillian show like we wanted!

Due to some technical difficulties, the “Dead World” video was not released this past week. We had a great party with cast/crew and were able to peruse some raw footage…. The actual video release will be end of July/early August..The Leo choose our party as a staff pick with a nice write-up and shared a great photo by Tim Druck! We’ll be release the actual video in early August.

Here’s a reel of clips, outtakes, and behind the scenes I put together

On another note, I’ve always loved fire, fire spinning and dancing, and have only twirled a fire baton before… Recently I’ve added simple poi fire spinning to my skill list, thanks to the great teachings of David Droopy Sherrer….During a show at Zazoos recently,  James Milby caught me on video! Check it out :D

Amidst the shake ups, I’ve gotten to get some great fun time in:

I got to meet an awesome metal working artist by the name of Kotah Moon at the Crescent Hill Art Festival…Check out some of these awesome and inspiring pieces made from all recycled materials! Some of them are made from Industrial incinerators, air compressor tanks, and even old 57 Chevy Trucks…I want the fiery one for my birthday in October!! (HINT) Check out more about this awesome artist at http://www.kotahmoon.com

Coming up:

Mondays at Zazoo’s in Louisville

Thursdays at Steinerts in New Albany

Sub Rosa Summer  Carnival – July 17 at Diamonds Pub and Billiards in St. Matthews of Louisville, Ky…hosted by Divinity Rose with super talented Tyler Thurman and Tonights Entertainment, Danny O day, Shawna the Dead, and fire by Rebecca Foley Helleman

I am scheduled to perform Friday July 30 at Fright Night Film Festival and Sci-Fi convention in Louisville, Ky.  You won’t want to miss this appearance, as it is a teaser for the theatrical stage show I am putting together and hope to release this fall!  I plan to release two new tracks/performances and rumor has it the Va Va Vixens will be dancing!

Release of Dead World Video – Looking like August 5 will be the release of “Dead World” music video….

Calling The Magical People: Environmental devastation

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

I know I usually reserve this blog to keep you all updated with my business and to encourage you in the pursuits of your dreams, but it is reasons like these that I call to you all to be magical in your every day interactions. MAGICAL PEOPLE are NEEDED.

The oil spill in the gulf is far worse than many may realize.

In the Madness of the Gulf Spill, many are overlooking a spill in Alaska

Here is some information on the very beginning of the effects of the oil spill..

According to a report released today, the oil could reach the atlantic and open ocean this summer!

I’ve only offered a few reasons here to do what you can to support the clean up efforts. This is OUR planet.   Regardless of who is to blame for this, WE have to live here.  It’s time to STOP throwing blame around and be ready to take responsibility like only MAGICAL people can do and step up to the plate. Who is responsible for this is not as important as saving our world.

It’s time to make some NOISE!

The people who control the world are the ones who are willing to step up and be responsible for it.

I know it’s hard to not be outraged. It’s hard to not want to bring judgment to those responsible, but please take all the energy generated from outrage and pour it into saving our world! Bp has only been giving “us” more of what we tell them we want and that’s gas, and lots of it…So really, every person who uses oil in some way, shape, or fashion holds a tiny piece of the blame. REmember! Our responsibility is our POWER. I know that all of you are brave and courageous enough to step up and shine. Nothing can stop us if we stand together without judgment of each other with a focus on healing our world.

With that being said, join me in stepping up and making some noise!!

The US population is 307,006,550. Imagine if every person donated $10.  Wait…let’s make it a little easier.. the WORLD population is 6,697,254,041. Imagine if everyone donated $1. Not possible? A pipe dream?  Maybe.. But maybe a pipe dream is just what’s needed to fix broken pipes, and just a fraction of that would go a long long way in helping.

Here are some ways to help:

If you plan to donate money, please do a little research before blindly donating.  Larger organizations tend to have more resources at their fingertips and may be able to better utilize the funding they receive.  (Click any of the following links to learn more)

6 ways to help

More ways to help

Buy Dawn dish soap to raise funds or text “wildlife” to  20222 to give a $10 donation to National Wildlife Fund

One of the biggest ways you can help with the clean up of this disaster and to prevent other horrendous atrocities is by letting your politicans know how you feel..remind them that the magical people hold the power, and they are public servants.

FIND your representatives and congressman easily by just entering your zip code…

WRITE THEM! Tell them it’s time to start researching and accepting CLEANER Energy methods..they’re everywhere and are proven to work!! Check out how the much smaller country of Brazil was able to completely remove themselves from oil dependency. If they can, surely the large and powerful  US of A can.  Entire countries in Europe are run on clean energy.  USA is falling behind in being a world leader and all these secrets and cracks are going to break us!

PLEASE Help spread the word, and do your part to call others to be MAGICAL.. SHARE THIS POST ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER, MYSPACE, with EMAIL LISTS.. You can be magical….you can help heal our world…I BELIEVE IN YOU <3<3<3

Poets, Prophets, Punks, and Pirates

Monday, May 24th, 2010

I can’t believe it’s already been almost a month since I was able to last send out some love to you, my beautiful little godlings …Please forgive my absence. I’ve been very busy indeed creating some wonderful new gifts for you.

There’s a lot to share, so I’m going to split it up into a couple posts!

I released Diaries of a Godling: The Promise on March 14, 2010 and have since sold out of the first run.  In celebration of the release, we held an awesome show called Poets, Prophets and Punks and I was tremendously honored and blessed to be able to share the stage with some amazing talent such as Ron Whitehead, Touch Armor Class, Truth B Told, Jimmy Besseck, Huh Robots, Revenge of Ricky Williams, Rhyan Sprague,  Lot 13 and Justin Hilton, and Grant Wallace. I wish you could have all been there! Now you can at least see some of it.  With the help of Matthew Blake Wallace, the video clips are now available for viewing online! Don’t miss the opportunity to see so much amazing talent! Check it out here! (Click “See all” on the right).

Then, all through May, I led a space pirate invasion on Louisville and the surrounding Derby Celebrations. We got down on more than one dimension during our “Space Pirate Disco”. I will upload my performance as soon as we can figure out how to convert the video, but here are some awesome photos :D

I hope you’re all doing well and pressing ever forward in your adventures to find the treasures that will make up your kingdom :D Don’t forget to check out the post following right on the heels of this one

Send this post on to family, friends, who you think might enjoy the awesome videos :D Share the videos on facebook, or other social networking sites :D
