Forward Motion ! Full Speed Ahead!

Man, Things have been rolling right along, and I’ve found myself faced with an array of new opportunities!

It seems that the onset of fall ushers in a great opportunity to take stock of the last year.  Taking a good look back allows us to see how much of our dreams have manifested.

We began Sub Rosa in July 2008.  It has grown from an event in a loft apartment once a month to an awesome continual opportunity with 6-8 shows per month  at several different venues. In addition to that, after a year of showing off, we’ve been in mentioned in 5 different media outlets in just a couple month’s time including, this great article about me by Zach Everson on Louisville.com! Check it out by clicking here !  BANG! ZOOM! POW! We are super heroes!!!! hehe.

*Insert Best Super hero pose here.

About the same time that we began Sub Rosa, I started playing around with Tony Minzenberger in adding music to my writing. He put a western sounding riff behind “The Dead Walk the Earth”, and I knew I had to make a cowgirls  vs. zombie  video for it. We recently released/premiered that video at Sub Rosa: The Gypsie Courtyard at our monthly themed showcase – To do it up right, we had all sorts of zombie goodness, (Read past posts about it). About 200 people showed up specifically for the event, and there were somewhere between 3 and 500 total throughout the night including the venue traffic.  It was a wild time indeed!

Wish you could have all been there!! Here are some photos by Jim Battles -

If you missed it. We’ll be screening it again in November. Also, I’ll be releasing some video of that soon.

Speaking of video, we went to the Zombie Attack on Louisville for the first time this year. It was amazing! Hundreds of zombies get together and trek down a main street in Louisville, rocking city buses, attacking victims, and attracting streetside onlookers….Check out this hilarious video of a guy from our group being attacked. He came to dinner with nothing left of his clothes!

Sub Rosa continues to roll on, too! I am so proud of everyone who has become of a part of making Sub Rosa such a successful entertainment collective!  I love all you crazy gypsies! You’re all so magical!  We have several shows coming up this month:

Family Friendly Show at The Great Escape on Bardstown Road – Saturday – September 12 – The Stand, Revenge of Ricky Williams, Darshwood, Joe Riggs, A Face painter – 10 am – 5 pm

The Tequila Factory – Nick Payne, Fire dancing and play by Laurel Fleurry & The Great Baldini, Magic by Darshwood, Mentalism by Joe Riggs 8 pm – 2am

Gypsies, Tramps, Thieves – Music, Pirates, Gypsies, Belly Dancers, Robin Hoods, Ninjas, Pickpockets – come celebrate this themed event at Diamonds…

Sept 25
Sub Rosa at Psychomania/Quarantine Haunted House – Belly dancing, firespinning, magic and more as people wait in line to enter one of these two haunted houses. Mention Sub Rosa on this night to receive $2 off entry. Also, look for original music and more from Louisville’s SubRosians on the soundtrack playing overhead throughout the season there. – Oct 2

With all this crazy stuff going on, I still found time to go and be involved in a film gig out of town that may lead me to spending some time in Los Angeles coming up. Even more exciting than that? I have begun development of the first Diaries of a Godling performance! Diaries of a Godling have been in the making for a couple years. Stay Tuned.

Also,

Last month, I was fortunate to attended a screening of Louisville filmmaker John Paul Rice’s first feature film, ONE HOUR FANTASY GIRL

It is an amazing story of redemption and how anyone can make a choice to stop creating hell for themselves and instead create a life of their dreams.

The film is based on the true stories of runaways from the Midwest who found themselves in Hollywood working as “fantasy girls” while trying to make something of their lives. The story origins came from a real-life girl posting on Craigslist.org who acts out any fantasy a guy wants for $150 an hour as long as there is NO sex or nudity and is 100% legal.

READ my review along with many others who have enjoyed the film HERE

The film is now available to watch on Amazon’s Video On Demand (for $1.99 rental/$4.99 to own), Netflix (queue) and soon to be released on iTunes.
