Kids can party hard, too.

So, last night we (Doomsday Lover) had a great show at Bearno’s in the Highlands, where they do a great showcase every Sunday night. Much thanks to Chad Cheek for having us out! He also hosts a great open mic there on Wednesdays. Chad is a pretty large part of the Louisville music scene.
The room was packed, the opening act, Recovering Tomorrow, was amazing and it was great to see some old friends surprise us and show up. I was glad to give one of them a horn made of duck lips on a necklace with the following advice: Whenever demons are troubling you this week, say “Duuuuck that” and toot your duck bill horn. It’s your shaman tool to scare them away.
I was able to sing without passing out despite my tuburculotic state, and Tony continues to amaze others with his super guitar and vocal abilities ….He continues to amaze me with his amazing ability to come up with new words like burlesquary and desexatorium.
Best of all, my kiddo got to come and partake by blowing a siren whistle at the end of the songs. A few root beers in, and I learned just what a party animal my son is. I’m not sure the Louisville music scene is ready for him! Amusing other patrons, bouncing off the walls, siren whistle sounds, and he sold his dinner table artwork for a dollar to the host of the night. As we were leaving, we posed for a couple of party photos together and he ended the night like a good party animal. As we walked away he broke off a huge icylce from a nearby gate and stuck it to his head, yelling at the few people outside, “I’m a unicorn!” before saying “RAWWWWWWWWWWWR” and smashing the horn to the ground to watch it shatter. What.a.rock.star.
My boy is turning 11 in a few weeks: OH MY GOD! He’s almost a teenager! I am seriously fearing the party years to come!
We want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting us and the Louisville music scene. We love you!
