I’m eating wayyy too much!

My digestive system has been an absolute mess in the last couple weeks. I’ve been on overload, busy, and a little stressed. I’ve been so busy, I’ve had little time to myself. What’s the best way to handle stress since I quit smoking over a year ago? FOOD! I noticed I was eating compulsively. I haven’t had the best stuff to fill up on either. Wanting to analyze the communication to myself, I stopped to think about how that physical ailment could reflect an internal ailment. The digestive system was having trouble processing all I was eating. In prophetic or metaphorical language, eating represents accepting. I realized I was cramming way too much into my life and not having any time to myself to process it. It was all backing up. I had to stop and ask, “What am I failing to process in my life that is blocking me from being able to continue in a healthy way?”

Shamans used to use shakers and bells and really put on a show to “scare away the bad spirits”that were causing illness. These days many blast their mp3 players, watch the tv, or head out to check out a band to “Scare away the bad spirits” - Those thoughts that haunt us day and night that we don’t take the time to or don’t want to process. These methods often fill us with even more to process, however, as they’re full of other people’s thoughts, ideas, and information. We just cram more information into ourselves and find ourselves with a good old case of spiritual indigestion.

We have to think about the ideas poured into us daily. We let so much become a part of us without realizing it and incorporating it into ourselves and what we put out. What kind of “bad spirits” or thought patterns have found their way in? Have you taken the time to clean them out or are you just momentarily scaring them away with even more mind food? Are you compulsively eating more information to take your mind off the things you don’t want to think about?

If you find yourself in a place where you need to really “scare away the bad spirits”, take a hint from the shamans of old and use rhythmic music, bells, drums, shakers….Try to limit words and information. Set the mood for yourself to really think about and process what you’ve been taking in lately. Close yourself off to information. What kind of thoughts do you find floating around inside you? Which ones need to go?
I awoke from a nap this week to a moment of complete lucidity where I was in all worlds at once. I found my consciousness high above as I walked to the bathroom, and I could see all that has been, all that is and all that will ever be flowing and moving along in a giant wave of feeling. We truly are eternal, though we don different masks/bodies and play on in infinite scenarios, and sometimes fall into a dream of believing we are something we are not. I felt as if I awakened from one dream to begin to exist in another.

Worry not about rushing to accomplish …we have all the time in the world. Don’t forget that time is an illusion and we can visit any where we want. You are on your own personal time and storyline. The closer you come to realizing that, the more you will understand.
